Prepaid SIM for phone verification in Busan|Pay-as-you-go plans from KRW 4,950

게시일 · 2026.10.01 · 새싹모바일

If you need a Korean phone number in your own name for verification but rarely make calls or use mobile data, a prepaid pay-as-you-go plan can keep the monthly cost low. The base fee is KRW 4,950–5,500 per month, and calls, texts and mobile data are deducted from your prepaid balance according to actual use.

This plan may suit you if you:

  • Need a phone number registered in your own name for verification
  • Need a work or business number and mostly receive calls
  • Use Wi-Fi most of the time and need little mobile data
  • Need a number in Korea for a short period without a long contract

How does a prepaid pay-as-you-go plan work?

You top up first. The monthly base fee and the cost of calls, texts and mobile data are then deducted from the balance. The minimum first top-up at Saessak Mobile is KRW 30,000. There is no long-term contract.

Data used over Wi-Fi does not consume mobile data credit. This makes the plan practical when Wi-Fi is available at home, a dormitory or work and you mainly need to receive verification texts or incoming calls.

Base fees and usage rates

Network Monthly base fee Calls Texts Data
SKT network KRW 5,500 KRW 1.98/sec KRW 16.5/text KRW 22.53/MB
KT network KRW 4,950 KRW 1.65/sec KRW 22/text KRW 22.53/MB
LG U+ network KRW 4,950 KRW 1.98/sec KRW 16.5/text KRW 22.53/MB

Rates include VAT. Eligibility and usage conditions are checked at the store.

Can a prepaid number be used for phone verification?

A prepaid number properly activated in your own name can be used for phone verification on many services. Some banks and apps apply their own restrictions to prepaid or MVNO numbers, so confirm the policy of the service you plan to use.

What should foreigners bring?

  1. ID: Alien Registration Card or passport
  2. Phone: Bring the phone that will use the SIM, or purchase a used phone at the store
  3. First top-up: Minimum KRW 30,000

Because prepaid service is paid for in advance, people who have difficulty obtaining postpaid service because of telecom arrears or credit issues may still be able to activate a number in their own name. Activation can be restricted in cases involving spam, identity misuse, carrier restrictions or documents that cannot be verified.

Choose a fixed plan if you use more data

Pay-as-you-go works best for incoming calls and verification texts. If you make calls or use mobile data often, compare the KRW 36,000 range (300MB then 3Mbps), KRW 39,000 plan (15GB then 3Mbps) and KRW 66,000 plan (100GB then 5Mbps).
